The article, “Washington D.C.’s serious sex-trafficking problem”, informs about how sex-trafficking is even in our nations capital. President Obama made January National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Children, the most vulnerable, are victims to sex trafficking.
According to U.S. attorney spokesman Bill Miller, “Since 2009, about 70 defendants have been prosecuted in [federal and D.C. courts] on charges related to human trafficking . . . including abducting or enticing a child into prostitution.” The U.S. attorney’s office is working to end sex trafficking and is scheduling training sessions with D.C. police and schools. Seven churches have already joined the Faith Coalition Against Sex Trafficking in Washington D.C. I support this movement, because sex trafficking is a terrible thing that we try to stop across sea, but it’s happening in our country too, and could be happening down the street from you.
